HOTSPOTZZ is one of the nation's largest privately owned and controlled Wi-Fi networks. HOTSPOTZZ owns a network of over 100+ Wi-Fi "hot spots," and has a growing base of wireless subscribers. HOTSPOTZZ is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and has corporate offices in Logan, Ohio and Toronto, Canada.
HOTSPOTZZ locations include retail chains, hotels, business centers, resorts and independent cafes and restaurants. HOTSPOTZZ technology enables companies to offer their customers wireless access and integrates user authentication, authorization, and accounting controls in a public, global, for-pay wireless network. Because our network is privately owned and controlled, we can ensure our subscribers maximum connectivity and uptime.
HOTSPOTZZ differentiates itself from other hot spot providers by offering the industry's only converged access platform that enables customers to use a single account for HOTSPOTZZ dial-up and wireless service. HOTSPOTZZ Wi-Fi access is available at 100+ current locations. MyHotspotzz dial-up Internet service features 3,400 dial-up locations, MailRover Anti-spam and virus protection and BrowseBlast Web accelerator.
In March 2003, HOTSPOTZZ teamed with Intel Corporation to promote its service in conjunction with the Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology for notebook PCs. HOTSPOTZZ and Intel are working together to drive awareness of Wi-Fi (802.11) hotspots -- areas where notebook users can connect to the Internet and corporate networks wirelessly.
HOTSPOTZZ is backed by IKANO Communications, the nation's leading provider of private-label Internet services. In August 2002, IKANO purchased the "WiFi Metro" network from hereUare Communications, the leading global provider of enabling technology of for-pay, public network access, aggregation and billing services. IKANO's Wi-Fi network now operates under the registered trademark, "HOTSPOTZZ©". The backend software solution integrated into the HOTSPOTZZ network is called "SPOTZZ©."
